Christine Toong

Teacher

Christine's frst encounter with yoga was in 2001 when she tried her frst yoga class. Yoga was meant to be a complement to her former passion…running. In time, the yoga practice meant much more to her than just a series of stretches as yoga enhanced and enabled her to fnd a deeper connection to her inner being. Encouraged by her teacher, she took up her frst yoga teacher's certifcation with Swami Vivekananda Research Centre in 2003 and began sharing her passion for yoga through teaching. She has never looked back since. Teaching yoga brings a great sense of satisfaction and joy as it was not just a job, a career. Christine feels that she could give back and help people not just with their physical ailments and misalignments but to bring out the intrinsic happiness and lightness of spirit that yoga brings forth.

Christine enjoys a personal connection to each and every student who walks into her class. She respects their individual abilities and teaches in a way that is compassionate but empowering. Her classes are joyful, light-hearted and yet deep-reaching and grounding. Christine is frmly grounded in the Iyengar and Hatha Vinyasa traditions. She deeply understands and studies the philosophical aspects of Yoga, and loves chanting the mantras.

She currently draws inspiration from Shiva Rea's Prana Vinyasa Flow, an energetic approach to embody the fow of yoga, experience prana as a souce for yoga and vital living. She relates deeply to this method as an evolutionary means of embodied transformation, cultivating inner and outer radiance, strength and fuidity. Her classes are inspiring, liberating, fowing. Expect to be bathed by poetry, natural movement, music, sound to deepen your fowing yoga practice and unleash the creative, spontaneous Being in you through balanced and creative fuid vinyasa sequences. She continues her studies with Shiva Rea by travelling to LA and constant contact with her inspiring mentor and friend, Franck Bessoles and teacher, friend, Ryan Wong.
